What is Ecstasy (MDMA)?

Ecstasy is a synthetic, mind-altering drug that has both hallucinogenic and stimulant-like properties. It is the powder or crystal form of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) that is made, packaged and distributed underground so you never know what you are taking!  

Street names:

Molly, Adam, Bean, E, Roll, X, XTC

How is it used?

Ecstasy comes in pills, tablets or capsules in a variety of colors and shapes. It is taken orally and if more then one is taken, it is called "bumping."

Dangerous because:

  • It can cause severe dehydration, liver and heart failure, and even death.
  • It causes an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, a special risk for people with circulatory or heart disease.

Signs of use:

  • Teeth clenching
  • Muscle tension
  • Chills
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Dehydration
  • Unusual displays of affection
